Chicana/o/x Family Storytelling – Oral Traditions & Cultural Identity

February 22nd (Wednesday) from 5pm – 8pm CENTRAL TIME/ 3pm – 6pm PACIFIC TIME

An Online community workshop plática to continue the process of learning and passing down our family histories. We know our elders who can recite neighborhood & community and family histories. This has been a beautiful cultural tradition for our people. This tradition has also served to keep our history and strengthen our cultural identity. We invite you to join us for a 3 hour community workshop plática where we will reconnect to this tradition of being storytellers. We will draft basic family trees to help us begin practicing telling our histories as well as using family stories to find hidden family strengths and resources. In small break out rooms, we will share and practice with one another in a safe space. The workshop facilitators will also guide participants in ways to include ancestral heritage & wisdom.
